So I have exactly a month left in Korea. Crazy. I'm trying to figure out how I feel about leaving: on the one hand I'm really sad to be leaving my students, friends, and this amazing city/country, but on the other hand I can't wait to be done with teaching for at least a while. I definitely need a break from the kids, no matter how much I love them.
This morning Lauren booked our flights outta here. Our plan for the next few months looks like this:
-at the end of June fly out of Korea to Cebu City in the Philippines, where we'll stay for about 10 days, soaking in the sun and relaxin' to the max.
-on July 10th fly to Taipei, Taiwan, where we have a summer camp job booked. The camp will go for about 3 weeks. We don't have a whole lot of information about it, but it seems like a good gig, as they'll pay for accommodation, meals, transportation, and sightseeing while we're there (plus a small salary when it's done.) Some of our friends from Busan will actually be out in Taiwan at the same time we're there, so that'll be neat to see them in a different place.
-around August 7th or so, we'll fly down to Bali in Indonesia, where we'll begin our ultimate backpacking adventure. Our plan is to start there, then (with only one backpack a piece) work our way up through Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. I've met a bunch of people here who have done similar adventures, and say it's absolutely incredible; something you have to do while you're out here. So we're going to do it. I can't wait.
We don't have a whole lot of details worked out about the trip, but I think winging it will be half the fun... never knowing where we'll be staying or what adventures will greet us day-to-day. We don't want to have some strict itinerary we feel we have to follow.
So for now, we're making preparations for our departure. We're selling most of our belongings, and shipping most of the rest back home. When we leave Korea, all we'll have to live out of for several months is our backpacks. Can't wait!
